Belief precedes action. If a company believes in toughness, it will act tough. If it believes in precision, it will act precise. If it believes in whimsy, it will act whimsical. A company that doesn’t know what it believes won’t know how act. Explicit beliefs create a common purpose and help people know how to behave.
